Election Day is upon us, tomorrow! I've re-posted my sample ballot below. However, remember that your ballot may look different than mine, since I don't live inside the city limits of Hallsville. This blog will have a few final thoughts on being a write-in candidate, a last (3 sentence) pitch for "why me," and a note of thanks. What has it been like, running as an "outsider" or as the "long-shot?" It's been a blast! I have enjoyed the political process for nearly my entire life (I was voted in my 6th grade class 'most likely to be mayor of Rolla). It may be strange to hear, but putting my passion into a real election campaign -- in something to make a difference for -- is fulfilling to me. I've also given it my full commitment, but that probably isn't a surprise for those who know me well. Throughout the last few months, I have known that I needed to earn the right for someone to take extra time on April 5th to physically write in my name. Between this website, Facebook, and the letters that I mailed, I believe I have given it my best effort. I hope I have provided enough background on myself, education policy knowledge, and information relative to my leadership style, to have earned your vote. If given the opportunity to serve on the school board, my urge for continual communication, feedback, and thoughts won't stop. Now, for my "elevator pitch." I decided to run for the school board as a write-in candidate because I believe that our school board is in need of a consensus builder who encourages teamwork among the Board, is level headed, and has experience in education policy. My first-term priorities include hiring a trustworthy superintendent, restoring trust among our educators and the citizens, and stabilizing our short and medium term financial situation. I would be humbled to receive your write-in vote for the Hallsville school board on Tuesday. Lastly, I wanted to just thank you, the Hallsville community. I've been so grateful and appreciative of the support for my write-in campaign. I've received emails and calls from people whom I've never met who have encouraged me and have said kind words about my efforts. This campaign process has continued to reaffirm to myself that this is my home, and where I want to live. Thank you. Happy Voting! Craig
